Restoration Work: TS7409 Pneumatic Tire Roller (Part 4)

July 2020

  • The restore work was almost completed and we had a test run in a morning. It ran fine.
However, when we drove again in that afternoon, the steering wheel was locked and could not steer the machine.

We thoroughly checked all the suspicious parts and found that some gears in the steering gear box were broken.

  • Unfortunately, the gear box has been obsolete in Japan.
Then, we asked to our dealers as well as our subsidiaries in the world if they had one. Luckily we found its rebuilt parts(*1) in Thailand.
Then we arranged its prompt import and waited for its arrival.

(* 1): Rebuilt parts are parts that exhibit the same performance as new products by disassembling, cleaning, maintaining, and checking the quality of used parts.

  • May be some people miss this old type starter key.

Thanks to Meiwa Denso for checking the electrical wiring and making sure the engine starts after turning this key.

August 2020

  • Here's the rebuilt gear box.
It is installed to the TS7409 and the machine is complete.

Thank you, SN Machinery, Thailand for your cooperation.

After problem-free test run on the track, we finally completed the Project.

  • Just before finishing, we also installed the sun-canopy. Thanks to Work-Uniform

Don't you think the round type headlights are cute?

In Sakai's 100-year history, the TS7409 pneumatic tire roller has been highly evaluated by customers for its excellent durability, reliability and maintainability.

We will preserve it along with two types of 3-wheel Roller, KD120 and R1 which were also restored as a part of 100th anniversary event.

This is the end of reports on the restoration work.
